After Hours

After-Hours and On-Call Policy

The pediatrician takes emergency calls from their homes after hours.

Commitment to Your Family

EverKind Pediatrics is committed to providing accessible, compassionate care while maintaining a sustainable practice that allows us to continue serving children and families for years to come. Families have access to pediatric guidance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our goal is to provide exceptional care while ensuring that your child's pediatrician remains rested, healthy, and available for your family over the long term.

After-Hours Telephone Care

When the office is closed, calls are answered by Triage4Pediatrics, a pediatric nurse triage service staffed by experienced pediatric nurses using evidence-based protocols.

The triage nurse may:

  • Provide home-care instructions.
  • Recommend an urgent visit the next day.
  • Advise evaluation at an urgent care center or emergency department.
  • Contact the on-call pediatric provider when physician input is necessary.

The on-call provider is available for urgent medical concerns that cannot safely wait until the office reopens.

Response Time

Calls are first screened by Triage4Pediatrics. If physician involvement is required, the on-call provider will generally return urgent calls within 30–60 minutes.

Healthy Boundaries

To provide safe and sustainable care, EverKind Pediatrics does not provide routine medical advice through personal cell phones, text messages, social media, or email after hours. Families are encouraged to use the established office phone system and patient portal so that all communications are documented appropriately.

Examples of Appropriate After-Hours Calls

Please call after hours for:

  • Difficulty breathing.
  • High fever in infants under 3 months of age.
  • Persistent vomiting or signs of dehydration.
  • Severe pain.
  • Worsening asthma symptoms.
  • Medication reactions.
  • Injuries requiring medical advice.
  • Concerns that you believe cannot safely wait until the next business day.

Concerns That Can Usually Wait Until Office Hours

Please reserve after-hours calls for urgent concerns.

  • The following are best addressed during regular office hours:
  • Prescription refills.
  • School or sports forms.
  • Requests for appointments.
  • Mild cold symptoms.
  • Questions about chronic conditions that are unchanged.
  • Behavioral concerns that are not urgent.
  • Billing or insurance questions.

Emergencies

If an emergency should arise, please call 911.

If your child is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go directly to the nearest emergency department. Do not rely on voicemail, portal messages, text messages, or email for emergency care.

Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions.
